Comfort Zone. To stay or not to stay.
One should not stay comfortable for too long. Like the lost remote, you will become wedged into the couch crevice of your life with potato chip crumbs and a dirty sock for company. It's cozy in there, but it's no way to truly live.
Picture your comfort zone as a circle. Absolutely everything interesting, exciting and amazing happens on the outside of it. Security is the center, sure. You can totally stay there. Why wouldn’t you, it's got all the good snacks and streaming services, but if Mardi Gras is happening on the outside, isn't it worth cracking the door open just a smidge? I mean, if we get just one kick at the can, isn't it worth taking a peek at what's outside?
The comfort zone is cool if you are done living. If you are like, "You know what, I've had enough fun and excitement for one lifetime, I think I'll sit the rest out", then by all means kick back. If you are a centenarian that has lived through The Great Depression and a World War. You’ve lived a life. You can easily call the comfort zone home for the rest of your days. You’ve earned it.
As for the rest of us, maybe it's not time to put our feet up just yet. If there is something calling you, pulling at you, a deep yearning for something more, put down the latte, take off the sweat pants and do something absolutely excitifying (terrifying/exciting). Actually, no provisos. You can wear whatever you want, just crack open the door or kick it down. Either way, the discomfort zone is where magical awesomeness is born.
All of our souls crave something. Most of us just let fear and self doubt sabotage our efforts. I know I did. I wasted years trying to capture that something every other possible way, avoiding all the things that scared me. So much time I wasted searching for the easy button. It wasn't until I looked my fear dead in the eye and said "Bring it!" that my entire world erupted into awesomeness. Be still. Get clear. Do that thing that scares you and then sit back and watch the magic light your life on fire.
It's. The. Only. Way.
